Welcome to Useful Acres. We are a veteran-owned, Christian-based company created to help customers get more out of their property, while working a little smarter.
Useful Acres’s mission is to simplify the things that our customers do around their own homes and communities. We don’t like building fences and spraying chemicals around food and flowers. Organic vegetables in your own backyard should not be a full-time job that requires hours of work. We can’t help you if you forget to water, but we can help with keeping other things from eating your flowers and vegetables before you can pick them.
Before the world got all hi-tech and started using chemicals that say they are “safe” on food, people used scarecrows and things that moved in the wind to scare away the critters that are looking for free food, a place to sleep or a toilet. We took what they used to do and are making products that are simple and yet have been updated using available materials to do the same things as in the past.
Useful Acres evolved as supply chains started to have issues with getting food and other materials restocked. After increasing the size of my garden, I realized that I am now over 50 years old and do not want to do fence posts in the summer anymore to keep the pests from snacking on my food.
The Green Guardian was created on the tailgate of my pickup truck. It has been through two years of testing. Results were better than I had ever thought possible with simple white vinegar. Not only do animals not eat my vegetables, but there have not been any tracks.
I also use it during hunting season. Deer seem to be drawn to the Green Guardian with your favorite hunting scent.
Now Useful Acres has started to include friends, neighbors, and co-workers to the discussions on how to be more self-sufficient and work smarter. I have been amazed at the tools and processes that rural people have been doing for generations to solve problems. We are going to start refining these and sharing to customers that may want healthy food or have the DIY mentality.
We do want visitors to buy our products, as we are a business, but we also want to become the trusted place to go and look for solutions that can be used at home. Please visit us often to watch our progress.
